Zagreb is the capital of Croatia and is located at the foot of the Medvednica and on the banks of the Sava. The city is located 120 m above sea level and has about 800 000 inhabitants. The favourable geographical position in the south-west of the Pannonian Plain, where the Pannonian and Dinaric regions meet with the Alpine and Adriatic regions, enables the best possible development of the city for transit traffic between Central Europe and the Adriatic coast.
