The list of venues for the 2026 FIFA World Cup has been determined, including the Kansas City Chiefs’ Arrowhead Stadium. The city is now planning to renovate the arena before the World Cup.
Munich/Kansas City – “This will be the biggest event the city of Kansas City has ever seen,” said Mayor Quinton Lucas, who was delighted about the promise as host city for the 2026 Football World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

In order to accommodate the event, the Arrowhead Stadium, which the Kansas City Chiefs share with MLS club Sporting K.C., is to be modernized.
No roof, better public transport connection
The foundations of the stadium, which was built in 1972, are to remain in place. The focus of the renovation work: a better connection to public transport.
In general, “the experience for fans, journalists, coaches and players should be improved,” announced Mayor Lucas.
It will cost $50 million to upgrade the stadium. The politician hopes above all for subsidies from the state of Missouri, and the Kansas City Chiefs should also contribute to the costs.
