The province of Hebei, in the north of the People’s Republic of China, is located mostly in the northern part of the Huabei Plain and partly on the Mongolian plateau. The province almost completely includes the cities of Beijing and Tianjin, which are directly under the government. Due to its proximity to the capital Beijing, the province is rich in cultural attractions and is also referred to as one of the areas of origin of Chinese civilization.

Due to its location, Hebei has a very well-developed long-distance road network and excellent railway connections. The railway connections are connected to Guangzhou, Harbin, Baotou, Nanjing, Shanghai, Jiujiang and Jinan, among others. The city of Qinhuangdao in the east of Hebei has one of the most important ports in northern China, while the provincial capital Shijiazhuang is a hub for air traffic.
Shijiazhuang is the capital of Hebei Province and is home to two of the great archaeological discoveries of recent decades. In the Hebei Provincial Museum, visitors can visit the tomb of the King of Zhongshan from the 4th century BC and the Han tombs of the prince and princess of the Han Principality of Zhongshan from the 2nd century BC. In the suburbs of Shijiazhuang there are some large monasteries from the Tang Dynasty with very well preserved Tang carvings and wall paintings from the Yuan Ming period. For shopping enthusiasts, the “You Mall” at the Bei Guo Center and the Wonder Mall are ideal.
