Seoul is the capital of South Korea. The city has almost 25 million inhabitants, which is seven times as many as in Berlin. It is the largest city in South Korea. Seoul is located in the north-west of the country. The city is located just 87 meters above sea level. That’s why ships can go to the Yellow Sea from Seoul. In addition, the Government of South Korea is based in Seoul.

South Korea is located on the southern part of the Korean Peninsula. To the west of South Korea is the Yellow Sea, to the south is the East China Sea, and to the east is the Sea of Japan. The only neighboring country is North Korea in the north. As with us, there are four seasons. The summers are pleasantly warm. There are large temperature differences between day and night in the mountains. Winters are very cold.
Pottery from the Neolithic period shows that Seoul was inhabited at least 3000 years ago. 2000 years ago it became the capital of a Korean kingdom for the first time. Even later, Korean kings and emperors ruled there. In 1910, the Japanese ended the Korean Empire, making it part of Japan. After the Second World War, Seoul came to the American part of Korea, which became South Korea. In 1950, the Korean War against the North began. There has been a ceasefire since 1953. The border with North Korea runs not far from Seoul.
There is a lot to see in Seoul. Lotte World is a well-known amusement park. In addition, there are, for example, the TV tower N Seoul Tower in Yejong-dong Park, the Myeong-dong shopping street, the Gyeongbok-gung Palace or the Buddhist Jogyesa Temple to see. There is also a national park in Seoul. It is called Bukhansan and is located in the north of Seoul.
