Which country is Santo Domingo located?
Santo Domingo is the second largest city in the Caribbean after Havana and the capital of the Dominican Republic with over three million inhabitants. The city is located in the south of the country at the mouth of the Rio Ozama.

It was founded in 1498 by a brother Christopher Columbus – by Bartholome Colon – and was then called La Nueva Isabela. The historic old town with narrow streets and shady courtyards on the western bank of the river has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Worth seeing is the Cathedral of Santa Maria la Menor, whose foundation stone was laid in 1521, or the Alcazar de Colon, the impressive Columbus Palace from 1514.
