Travel time
Santa Fe is worth a visit all year round. Thanks to the high altitude, there is a mild climate in summer, but very cold temperatures can be found in winter.

Santa Fe was founded in 1610 by the Spaniards as the capital of their colony of “Nuevo México”. At the time, the settlement had the name “La Villa Real de la Santa Fe de San Francisco”, which translates as: “Royal City of the Holy Faith of St. Francis of Assisi”. However, between 1680 and 1692, the colonialists had to leave the city and flee to El Paso because of the uprising of the Pueblo Indians. Nevertheless, the former residents return to their settlement, Santa Fe has been inhabited constantly since that time.

Santa Fe is probably one of the most unusual and certainly worth seeing cities in the southwest of the USA. The capital of the state of New Mexico, founded by the Spaniards in 1607, fascinates with an impressive mixture of history, architecture and culture by American standards. The Adobe-style buildings, built in warm earth tones, more than 200 art galleries and numerous historical buildings give the city a lot of southern atmosphere, charm and joie de vivre.
