San Marino is a small country, a so-called dwarf state. After the Vatican City and Monaco, San Marino is the third smallest country in Europe.

San Marino is located entirely within Italy, making it an Italian enclave. The length of the border with Italy is 39 kilometers. The Italian city of Rimini and the Adriatic coast are about ten kilometers away. San Marino was founded in the year 301 and is therefore considered the oldest republic in the world.
San Marino is located in the northeast of Italy on the slope of the Apennines. The small country is crossed by the seven-kilometer mountain Monte Titano, on the back of which the capital of the same name, San Marino, is also located. Monte Titano slopes steeply to the east, in the rest of the country there is hilly landscape. There is a lot of forest growing here.
