Which country is Praia?
Cape Verde consists of several islands. The main island is Santiago with the city of Praia. In other words: With Praia as a destination or holiday destination, you end up in the center of the Cape Verde Islands. Praia is located on the southern tip of the island of Santiago – right on the coast. It has its own airport (Praia International Airport) and from Praia there are also several ferry connections to other islands of Cape Verde – for example to Sal or Boa Vista. With about 140,000 inhabitants, Praia is the largest city in Cape Verde and it is also the capital of the country Cape Verde.

The old town of Praia is located over the Atlantic on a rocky plateau, which is also called Plateau/Platô. Colonial buildings can be found around the central Praça Alexandre Albuquerque square, and minibuses to other destinations on the island of Santiago and the airport also depart from the port in Praia. Several beaches in the immediate vicinity and numerous excursion destinations including tours to the other islands of Cape Verde make Praia an attractive destination. There are pleasantly warm temperatures here all year round and the water temperatures are also quite constant. This makes Praia an ideal holiday destination for a beach holiday or beach holiday. But the island of Santiago has to offer variety above all: steppe areas, mighty mountains, green valleys and plains, markets and the African-influenced culture leave nothing to be desired. Hiking, fishing, snorkeling, diving, walks and also historical things can be found here in and around Praia.
