In the US state of Hawaii, on the island of Oahu, Pearl Harbor is located. The port, which is also the headquarters of the US Navy, gained its fame status through the attack of the Japanese fleet on December 7, 1941 during the Second World War. Within 90 minutes, 2,403 Americans died. The then sunken battleship USS Arizone was never recovered and lies on the seabed of Pearl Harbor. A floating memorial was anchored above the wreck. With up to 1.5 million visitors annually, Pearl Harbor is one of the most popular tourist attractions on Oahu.

In total, the area is divided into the five areas: USS Arizona Memorial, Battleship Missouri Memorial, USS Bowfin Submarine Museum and Park, the Pacific Aviation Museum, and the USS Oklahoma Memorial.
Before you take a boat out to visit the USS Arizona Memorial, you will have the opportunity to watch a short film about the history and the attack on Pearl Harbor. The Battleship Missouri Memorial and the Pacific Aviation Museum can be reached from the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center by shuttle buses, which run at intervals of about 15 minutes. In the Bowfin Submarine Museum and Park you can visit an original submarine that was in service during the Second World War on almost 950 square kilometers. Inside you can understand life on the cramped area and visit the engine room, as well as the original sleeping berths.
