The Arabian Peninsula has been a popular destination for holidaymakers with high standards for a long time, for example in Doha in Qatar or in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. With Muscat, the capital of Oman, another city is now preparing to attract more and more travelers to the desert.

What country is Muscat in?
Muscat is located at the foot of the 600-kilometer Hajar Mountains on the Gulf of Oman. For many millennia, the city has been an important commercial port. Especially since oil is extracted in Oman and refined and shipped via Muscat.
According to archaeological finds, the area around Muscat was already settled around 4,000 years ago. At that time, people were diving for pearls in the Gulf and mining copper in the mountains. From 500 BC, the Persians took the helm in Muscat for about a thousand years.
Only with the Islamization of Arabia did Oman – and with it Muscat – regain its independence. At least until 1507 the Portuguese appeared and partially destroyed the city. At the end of the 18th century, Muscat became the capital again and flourished again. From the 1970s, the modernization of the country and the city took place under Sultan Qaboos. Today Muscat is a modern megalopolis, which is in no way inferior to the other metropolises of Arabia.
