Kansas is located in the Midwestern United States. The state is bordered by Nebraska to the north, Missouri to the east, Oklahoma to the south and Colorado to the west. “The Sunflower State” covers an area of 210,000 km2. Today, cattle are mainly bred and wheat is grown there. Because of the moderate amount of precipitation, irrigation is usually carried out artificially in agriculture. The eastern third of the state is hilly, partly forested and has more precipitation. The highest point in Kansas is Mount Sunflower in Wallace County (1231 m).
