Havana is located on the northwest coast of Cuba. This is where the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea meet. The chain of islands of the Greater Antilles, which includes Cuba, lies like a barrier in the water, separating the Gulf of Mexico from the Atlantic Ocean.
North of Havana, the Florida Keys are located in the sea. The archipelago is located in front of the US-American mainland and they form the southernmost point of the United States, after Hawaii. The landscape on this stretch of coast is hilly, although the old town is almost at the height of the sea level. East and west of the city, the terrain rises and turns into hilly terrain.
