What country is Guaynabo Puerto Rico in?
Guaynabo is located in the northern region of Puerto Rico. Its area is 70.2 square kilometers (27.1 miles2). It is known as the “first town of Puerto Rico“, ”the city of the conquistadors“, ”the capital of sports“, ”the ruins of Caparra“, and ”the town of the Mabó Carnival”. According to the 2000 census, its general population was 100,053 Guaynabeños. Ten neighborhoods comprise its territory: Camarones, Frailes, Guaraguao, Guaynabo Pueblo, Hato Nuevo, Mamey, Pueblo Viejo, Río, Santa Rosa and Sonadora. Its patron saint is Saint Peter the Martyr of Verona.


The economy of this municipality is mostly industrial and commercial. Among its factories, dairy, wheat and other grain processors stand out, as well as the manufacture of metal, paper, textile and chemical products. Other economic lines are the provision of services and construction.
Geography
This municipality is located on the north coast of the island. It is bordered on the North by the town of Cataño and the Bay of San Juan; on the South by Aguas Buenas, on the East by San Juan and on the West by Bayamón. The relief of its territory can be divided into three areas. The first one covers its northern area and belongs to the region known as Llanos Costaneros del Norte. It is formed by flat and humid lands that are concentrated in the Pueblo Viejo neighborhood and that already entered Cataño form the Cienaga de las Cucharillas. Towards the center of the municipality (Santa Rosa, Frailes and Camarones neighborhoods) there is an average area in which heights of no more than 150 meters are recorded. Several mogotes can be seen in this area. Finally, Guaynabo develops a mountainous area in its southern area (Guaraguao, Hato Nuevo, Mamey, Río and Sonadora neighborhoods). The elevations range between 150 and 300 meters high and the Marquesa Hill stands out for its height with 510 meters (1,673 feet) above sea level. However, to the north of its territory there are the Montes de Caneja (Pueblo Viejo Neighborhood) with 50 meters (164 feet) high. These mountains have a cave which is distinguished by its five entrances, its clarity and its amplitude inside. Also, this village is part of the karst zone of the island.
