What country does Guatemala belong to?
Guatemala is located in Central America. The Maya, one of the early cultures of the continent, once lived in this region. The center of the entire American continent is located in Guatemala. Guatemala is located between the Pacific Ocean to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. On the Atlantic, however, it has only a short coast, which belongs to the Gulf of Honduras, which in turn belongs to the Caribbean.
Borders and regions
The country protrudes into the country to the north with a partly quadrangular area. To the east is Belize. To the north and west is Mexico. The borders in the south lead to El Salvador and Honduras. Guatemala can be divided geographically into three zones: the Pacific coast, the mountainous highlands and the lowlands of Petén.
The Pacific coast is also called Costa Sur, that is, the south coast. Here grows forest, which in the dry season sheds its foliage (so not an evergreen rainforest). The coast is joined by the slightly higher Boca Costa, the coastal mouth. There is cloud forest here: it is very humid here, almost constantly the forest is shrouded in fog.
