Espoo in the south of Finland is easily accessible west of Helsinki. The versatile destination offers a great mix of nature, experiences, culture and innovations and can also be described as a small image of Finland. In the south you can experience the magnificent island world and an untouched coastline. The city’s cultural life offers many different events and excellent shopping opportunities. Further north of the city you will discover a completely different Espoo: lakes, quiet rural areas, historic estates and the wilderness of the Nuuksio National Park.

Part of the metropolitan region and one of the most sustainable cities in Europe
Together with the capital Helsinki and the neighboring city of Vantaa, Espoo forms the Helsinki metropolitan Region, which is home to more than 1 million Finns. On its own, Espoo is the second largest city in Finland and one of the most sustainable cities in Europe. Espoo has not only one city center, but five different city centers. In Espoo you can easily get from A to B and the city can be reached by public transport from Helsinki city center and from Helsinki-Vantaa Airport.
Which country is Espoo Finland?
Today Espoo is a lively cultural city and differs from other Finnish cities by its infrastructure: the city has not only a single center but several, for example, the garden district Tapiola.
In recent years, Tapiola has become the cultural center of the city: here visitors will find, for example, the Espoo Cultural Center, the Weegee Exhibition Center and the Espoo Municipal Theater. The City Orchestra, Tapiola Sinfonietta, has received worldwide recognition since its foundation in 1988. In addition to concerts, the program also includes international festivals, such as April Jazz and Espoo Ciné, and biennials, such as PianoEspoo and the KuoroEspoo Choral Festival. The cultural center, designed by Arto Sipinen and inspired by the modern buildings of the Finnish Alvar Aalto, is called ‘The Moon Bridge’ and is architecturally very interesting.
