What country is Copenhagen located in?
Copenhagen is the capital of Denmark. It is also the seat of the parliament and the Royal House. The name Copenhagen comes from the Middle Danish and is roughly translated as: Kaufmannshafen. The city is located on Denmark’s largest island – on Zealand. The Swedish city of Malmö is only a stone’s throw away.

Copenhagen was granted city rights in 1254. The landmark is the “Little Mermaid”, which was designed according to the fairy tale of the same name by Hans Christian Andersen. Also known is the Tivoli Amusement Park, one of the oldest in the world. Worth seeing is the Christiansborg Palace, the seat of government. Among other things, the executive, legislative and judicial branches of the country are located here. Amalienborg Palace, on the other hand, is the Copenhagen city residence of the Danish Royal House. After all the sightseeing, you should still pay a visit to Strøget, Copenhagen’s world-famous shopping mile.
