What country is Chisinau Moldova in?
Chișinău is the capital of the Republic of Moldova. It has more inhabitants than any other city in the country, namely about 700,000, which is almost as many as in Frankfurt am Main. The name probably means “water source”. You can still find them today at a road junction. Chișinău is located on the Bîc River.

Many foods are processed in Chișinău. There is also a large tobacco and textile industry and several wineries. Some banks have also settled. Nevertheless, the economy is doing pretty badly. The inhabitants of Chișinău are quite poor compared to other European cities. However, compared to the other people in the Republic of Moldova, they are doing very well.
There are many sights in Chișinău: several cathedrals, a triumphal arch, as well as wide avenues, these are streets with long rows of trees. There are also many parks. Since the end of the Cold War, however, the city has hardly been maintained because there is too little money. Many buildings in the city center have fallen into disrepair. That’s why almost no tourists come to Chișinău.
Chișinău has an international airport. Various railway lines intersect there, as well as many bus routes that run from one city to another. There are many electric trolleybuses in Chișinău itself. Minibuses and taxis are also available. Until 1961 there was also a tram.
