Where is Brisbane Located

Brisbane is the capital of Queensland and the third largest city in Australia. Thanks to the subtropical climate, you can visit the metropolis at any time of the year. The metropolis is known above all for the numerous cultural sights and the large selection of concerts, theatrical performances and other representations. It is not for nothing that Brisbane is the third most important destination for international tourists after Melbourne and Sydney. Many city dwellers belong to alternative subcultures, which is evident, at least visually, especially in the Fortitude Valley district. For this reason, the art scene in ‘Brissie’ is particularly strong and the nightlife is very varied.

Which part of Australia is Brisbane in?

Queensland’s capital is a lively city of millions with a casual flair, characterized by a pleasant subtropical climate. It is located on the Brisbane River, a few kilometers west of its mouth into the Pacific Ocean. The sunniest big city in Australia is an expanding modern economic center. Brisbane and the surrounding Southeast Queensland region will host the 2032 Summer Olympics.

Brisbane is largely staying out of the Australian cities competition. You just live in the awareness that it is the most beautiful here anyway. To be honest: there is also a bit of a dispute about the architecture. When Australia held the presidency of the G20 in 2014, the G20 summit in Brisbane was held in November. In the 80s, Brisbane boomed through the World Exhibition EXPO 88, in whose train, among other things, the site on the Brisbane River was redesigned.

Less well-known among international tourists, but very attractive, are the outlying islands of Moreton (50 km NO), Stradbroke and North Stradbroke (30 km S). Moreton Island is 168 sq km in size and has a maximum north-south extension of 38 km. 98% of the area of the island is National Park. At 278 m, the world’s highest sand dune near the coast, Mount Tempest, is located on it. The island was discovered in May 1770 by James Cook, who named the northern tip of the island Cape Moreton. However, Cook thought that the cape was part of the mainland. Between 1952 and 1962, Tangalooma was Australia’s only whaling station. Today, the Tangalooma Wild Dolphin Resort is located in the old buildings of the station.
