Bratislava is the capital of Slovakia and the largest city in the country. It used to have the German name Pressburg.
In the immediate vicinity is the border triangle Slovakia-Austria-Hungary, Vienna is about 60 km away and Budapest 195 km.

Bratislava, the city located on both sides of the Danube, is the former Bratislava and the current capital of the young Slovak Republic. It is the largest city in the country. The city is located in the extreme south of the country and almost borders Austria and Hungary. Vienna is just 60 kilometres away. You will get a good overview from the castle hill, from which you can enjoy a panoramic view of the city and the surrounding area to the Slavin War Memorial. You should not miss the Old Town, which has almost largely preserved its Gothic-Baroque style. The region around Bratislava has been inhabited since ancient times, which is probably due to the fertile location on the banks of the Danube. Celts, Romans, Germans, Slavs – all of them left their mark here.
