Which country is Botswana in?
Botswana is located in the south of Africa and is a landlocked country. Officially it is written in German Botswana, but often you can also see Botswana. The size of the country, at 581,730 square kilometers, roughly corresponds to that of France. From east to west, the country stretches for about 1000 kilometers, as well as from north to south.
There are about 2.3 million people living in Botswana. The name Botswana is derived from the Tswana people. The country is very sparsely populated. The rivers Limpopo in the south and Molopo form natural boundaries.
Botswana borders South Africa to the south and southeast, and Zimbabwe to the northeast. To the west lies Namibia, which also borders Botswana to the north with the Caprivi tip. This is the narrow strip of land that you will find on the map just north of Botswana. There is also a border to Zambia in the north, but this is only a few meters.
Most of the country is covered by the Kalahari. Here it is dry and barren. Mostly grasses and bushes grow here. Botswana is located on a plateau of about 1000 meters.
