Badalona is a rich, diverse and multicultural city, the third city in Catalonia in number of inhabitants and one of the oldest cities. Located on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, it partially occupies the delta del Besós. In the summer of 1992 Badalona began the process of modernizing the municipality thanks to the Olympic event (the basketball and boxing competition of the Barcelona Olympic Games).

The municipality of Badalona borders to the southwest, towards the Besòs, with Sant Adrià de Besòs and to the west with Santa Coloma de Gramenet, both in the Barcelonès region. To the west it borders with Montcada i Reixac, in the Western Vallès and to the north with Sant Fost de Campsentelles, in the Eastern Vallès, with the Marina mountain range that acts as a natural barrier with these localities. Finally, to the northeast it borders the towns of Tiana and Montgat, in the Maresme region.
