What country is Avarua?
South Sea experts – and there are certainly some among them – immediately connect the Cook Islands with Avarua. That’s right, because it is the capital of the sovereign island state. Avarua is located on the island of Raratonga and despite its small size, it has just about 4000 inhabitants, hardly a tourist can avoid visiting this tranquil city. Raratonga has the only major airport in the region and is therefore the tourist hub of the Cook Islands.

In fact, a detour to Avarua is worthwhile, either as a setting for a wonderful holiday or as an end before the trip home with the possibility of buying the last souvenirs.
