Anchorage is Alaska’s largest city. It is located between Cook Inlet and the Chugach Mountains. Many locals consider the metropolis to be not typical for Alaska: the economic and transport center of the largest state is too large and too extensive. Nevertheless, it is worth visiting the coastal city, which was hit by a violent earthquake on Good Friday in 1964 (the north side of 4th Avenue was lowered by three meters). On the one hand, it is the backdrop of the Chugach Mountains, whose peaks are still partly covered with snow in summer, on the other hand because of the remarkable variety of cultural and gastronomic offers as well as the diverse shopping opportunities.
Anchorage, the largest city in Alaska, is a place with many faces. The city is located on the bay of Cook Inlet and is surrounded by stunning nature and high mountains. Anchorage is both the most important industrial center of the region, as well as the gateway to the Alaskan wilderness.
