Alicante is located in the south-east of Spain, in the south of the Valencia region. The province is known under the tourist brand name Costa Blanca. It has a typical Mediterranean landscape, where the beaches are interspersed with mountainous terrain.


In the province there are up to ten popular festivals declared festivals of international tourist interest: in Alicante the bonfires on St. John’s Night; in Torrevieja the international Habaneras and polyphony competition; the festival of Moors and Christians in Villajoyosa, Alcoy and Crevillente; the Holy Week in Crevillente and in Orihuela; the Fira de Tots Sants (All Saints’ Day) of Cocentaina; and the “Misterio” (mystery ) of Elche and the processions on Palm Sunday in the city of Elche. There is also the Elche palm grove, which has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
