It is located next to the N-II between Madrid (31 km.) and Guadalajara (22 Km.), 107 km. from Toledo, 288 Km. from Zaragoza, and 595 Km. from Barcelona. It is the third most populous city in the Community of Madrid. It was declared in 1998 by UNESCO as a World Heritage City. It is the hometown of Cardinal Cisneros and Miguel de Cervantes. Its inhabitants are called Complutenses or Alcalaínos.
