Is Austria in Asia Or Europe?
Located in the heart of Central Europe, Austria has common borders with 8 countries. It is, in fact, a transit point between the major economic and cultural centers of Europe, to which it is connected by its road and rail network as well as by the Danube, connected today to the Rhine by the Europe Canal.
The country is divided into 9 Bundesländer (federal regions), each governed by a Landesregierung. However, with an area of approximately 83,860 km2, Austria remains one of the smallest countries in Europe: we are far from the vast expanses of the old Empire. Likewise, its population barely amounts to 8.7 million inhabitants, of which 1,765,650 – more than 20% – live in Vienna. Only one other city passes the milestone of 200,000 inhabitants: Graz, closely followed by Linz.
